About Save behavior
Chrome and Edge (desktop): First save prompts you to choose a file name and location. Subsequent saves write silently to the same file — no dialogs, no Downloads folder clutter. Works like a native desktop application.
Safari, Firefox, and iOS: First save prompts for a file name, and the file is downloaded to your browser's download location (usually the Downloads folder). Because these browsers don't support silent file overwrites from web apps, every subsequent save also downloads a copy.
To avoid duplicate files in Safari:
Safari → Settings → General → set a specific download location
When Safari asks about a duplicate filename, choose "Replace" (Safari may remember this choice)
Alternatively, enable "Ask for each download" in Safari settings to pick a location per save
Save As — all browsers: Use Project ▾ → Save Project As to create a new copy with a new name. On Chrome/Edge this creates a fresh file handle; on Safari this downloads a new file.
Keyboard shortcut: Ctrl/Cmd+S triggers Save.
What's saved: All saved calculations, groups, vehicles, notes, activity log, and project preferences. User preferences (skin, numeric conventions) are NOT in the project file — they're per-device in your browser's localStorage.
